A Bridge Called Literacy
There are still people in the world that can’t read and write.
A Literacy Poem:
Literacy,
Reading and writing;
bridge to the world of knowledge
opening the world.
Literacy,
a future for the impoverish
a key to the future;
a world of knowledge and understanding
a bridge building self-esteem and self-worth.
Literacy;
an opportunity to grow
an opportunity to be independent
an opportunity to change circumstances.
If I had a magic wand
“sim, sala bim,” swoosh,
everyone would be able to read and write.
Today, the 8th of September 2022 is world literacy day. Isn’t it sad that there are 775 million people across the globe that are not able to read and write?
Kofi Anan, former Secretary-General of the United Nations, stated that:
“Literacy is a bridge from misery to hope” — Kofi Anan
