Do you peel your apples before eating them? Many people do this due to personal preference or out of habit. Some throw the peels away. Instead of chucking them, one could use the peels to bake cookies.

Apple peels are packed with nutrients, minerals, and vitamins. Apple peels contain vitamins A and C. It is packed with fiber and contains the minerals calcium, potassium, phosphorous, and iron.

According to the Healthfully Website, one’s body uses minerals like “..calcium and phosphorus to maintain strong bones and teeth.” Potassium helps to “promote proper cell, heart, and digestive,” functioning. Iron helps the body to “regulate cell growth and produce healthy red blood cells.”

Here is a simple recipe to turn apple peels into delicious, soft, moist, and nutritious cookies.

Ingredients:
Serving size: 12 small or 6 large cookies

1 cup all-purpose baking flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
0.5 cup oatmeal or rolled oats
3 tablespoons olive oil
1 egg
peel of 2 apples (chopped)
