Beautiful words about poetry and its power. I grew up with the works of a famous Afrikaans poet Eugene Marais at school.

The first time I wrote a poem was when my brother died in my Afrikaans language class. The teacher published the poem in the school magazine. I switched to writing drama scripts and did not write a poem again till last year (38 years later.)

Poetry helps me to make sense of the world and is a release for my emotions and thoughts.
