Interval training is a beneficial exercise to help you stay fit, burn more energy, boost your metabolism, and maximize your exercise results.

All these benefits are achieved in a shorter time period than a traditional same-pace cardio workout. In addition, if you follow a balanced diet, it can serve as a useful strategy to help manage or maintain your weight.

What is interval training?

Interval training programs are designed to control the intensity and length or duration of active exercise periods followed by rest intervals.

This type of training pushes your body to burn more energy during the high-intensity part of the workout followed by brief periods of rest before repeating the cycle. This constant shifting between high-intensity bursts and periods of rest is what creates the powerful impact of an interval exercise workout.

During the high-intensity part of the workout, the body requires lots more energy to fuel the intense exercise. Your body taps into its anaerobic energy system.
