Brutal Baddie

Don’t judge a book by its tattoo cover.

A one-line poem about judging a book by its outer cover:

Beefy lenient-lad covered in terrifying tattoos — a brutal baddie?

A friend of mine is 6 ft 4 inches tall and a bodybuilder. He has a mix of big colorful dragon tattoos and swords on his torso and shoulders.

A couple of years ago, we were in the gym on a hot summer’s day. He took his shirt off during training. Two younger lads were standing close to me. One of them said:

“You don’t want to meet that badass tattooed guy in a dark alley alone at night.”

I could only smile at their comment as he is a friendly and very caring person. My mom used to say: “Don’t judge a book by its cover, Jay. You might get a pleasant surprise.”

Maybe a life lesson those two lads desperately need to learn.
