Cubical modern nests
against a turquoise blue sky
with cotton candy curls floating in the air.

A delicate balancing act
individual abstract tree tops
in an artificial yellow sea of modern trees.

The Cube houses of Rotterdam has been designed by architect Mr. Piet Blom in 1972. The first 3 experimental houses were completed in 1974 (Source 2) It has been an extraordinary sight in the area.

The houses are designed as a high-density housing complex build on hexagonal pillars to provide more space below the houses at street level. (Sources 1 & 2).

According to the architect, each individual house represents an abstract tree. The connected row of houses appears as a “…sea of trees in a yellow, manufactured forest.” (Source 3)
