Frozen Roses

Questions and musings about the future

A frozen yellow rose
glowing in a sheath of icy cold crystals, so beautiful.

Will it last forever?
Cryostasis, to preserve nature’s beauty?
Does a rose have a soul? Was its soul frozen, too?

Will we live,
forever on Earth;
burning atmosphere,
melting ice caps and glaciers,
rising oceans, rising world temperatures.

Forces seen and unseen,
changing Earth ever so slowly.
Will people see the signs?
Will they find a cure to mend our Earth’s broken body?

Where will we go to live?
Under oceans? Inside the Earth?
Frozen in a space shuttle orbit around Earth?
Waiting for Earth to cure itself from mankind’s destruction.
Can our souls be frozen with our bodies?
Will we get a new one after our deep cryostasis sleep?

or, will we be like,

a frozen yellow rose on show,
shattered into tattered, melting, icy fragments.
Is that what will remain of humanity’s dreams and future?

“Were ignorance and power worth it in the end?” A question not to be asked.
