Ham & Cheese Omelette
An oven-baked fluffy recipe with Italian spices
I do enjoy an omelette for breakfast or a snack at any time. Sometimes when I bake them in a pan they break when I flip them over which is annoying. I have to work on my technique.
I was in the mood for a ham and cheese omelette yesterday. I decided to bake it in the oven as an experiment. It turned out fluffy, creamy and tasty. I cut it into rectangles and served it with whole-grain bread.
Ingredients:
2 eggs (separated)
0.25 cup of ham (pieces)
1 cup of cheddar cheese
1cup of milk
a dash of Italian herbs
salt and pepper (to taste)
Minced garlic (to taste, optional)
Process:
- Add salt to egg whites. Whip till soft peaks form
- Mix the milk, herbs, pepper, garlic (if used) and egg yolks together. Spoon the whipped egg whites gently into the mixture
- Add the ham and cheese to a greased oven dish. Add the milk mixture
- Bake in a preheated oven at 180° Celsius for 30 minutes.
- Turn the oven off. If the eggs are still wobbly leave them in the switched-off oven for 10 minutes.
Enjoy with bread, buttered toasted bread, or English muffins.
