Ignoring The Inner Voice

A Free Verse Poem- Temptation vs Wisdom.

Temptation lured me many times — winking, seducing, tempting
beckoning me. Whispering voice soft slithering encircling,
blurring wisdom’s words.

Ignoring the inner voice drifting in my subconscious mind warning.
To be cast into a no-light hazy place
burning my fingers in fierce flames.

Wisdom did sometimes prevail —
having a say when temptation
flirted begging me to come hither.

Temptation walked off
tail between legs — dreary.
A scornful lingering look
— a warning, “I’ll be back!”
While wisdom waves
it gleefully goodbye.
