My First 5 Week Medium Progress Report
A reflection on my progress, number of followers, and lessons I learned writing on Medium.
I joined Medium after a chat with a friend during an evening out. We had fun telling teaching war stories. He advised me to write and tell my stories. I was hesitant because I did not see myself as a writer.
Anyway, I thought I will give it a bash. I discovered Medium and became a member on my first day. For the first couple of days, I surfed Medium reading articles and stories building the courage to start writing.
I wrote my first post — an unemployment poem. People clapped, highlighted my poem, and started to follow me. It inspired me to write more. The screenshot below shows the total views for my stories and reads over the last 30 days.
When I started I did not expect to get more than 50 followers. I was surprised and pleased when I got my first 100 followers after 8 days on Medium. I joined the Medium Partnership Program. I love reading and writing. The aim was to continue doing that. I thought: “Hey, if I get some pennies and dollars for doing my passions it’s a bonus.”
