Open Your Heart
Life is beautiful with its thorns and all
Let’s sing or dance, or do both,
‘cos life’s awesome.
Life’s filled with roses and thorns
a happy and sad roundabout,
Life’s roses and thorns are opportunities.
Open your heart and see the beauty,
of what you take for granted every day.
What if your daily blessings and wonders
are taken away? How will that make you feel?
It’s something to think about.
Sing because you are alive…
I’m grateful for every breath I take.
I wrote this poem in August 2024. It was inspired by the gratitude prompt (Day 1) for August 2024.
I forgot about the poem when I entered life’s thorny and challenging phase in August. These last couple of months have been difficult for a variety of reasons.
Today I am thankful I was drawn to the poem’s title in my draft folder.
It reminds me of everything I should be thankful for even though I am experiencing a challenging and lonely phase of my life.
