Judith Uusi-Hakimo, tagged me in an “apology poem” challenge initiated by Sheri Jacobs. I used the template and style of William Carlos Williams’s poem This is Just to Say,” as suggested by Sheri Jacobs in her original post.

I couldn’t resist having fun with my grandchildren in mind. I imagined the shock on their faces if the scenario in the poem happened to them. It made me chuckle uncontrollably.

Here is my poem “Pardon Me, Laddie”:

Laddie,
I didn’t see the A* grade
on your Science paper.

You probably
wanted to show
it to your dad,
‘just to brag’ a bit.

Pardon me,
it was great
starter fodder,
for the hearty hearth fire.
Grampa.
