Today, 20th February is “Rosenmontag” in Germany. It is the highlight of the carnival period called “Fasching.”
Carnival in Germany starts at precisely 11 minutes past eleven in the morning on the eleventh of November.
It is a season of joy celebrated in Germany and other German-speaking countries before the season of Lent begins.
A couple of years ago I participated in Carnival and dressed up as a bearded nun with friends. We won tickets to see the musical Sister Act in German. It was a lot of fun.
