Scattered

Is our relationship no more?

Is it a mirage?

a frozen connection
a frigid frosty air, sharp as nails,
a swirling abyss between us.

is it a mirage?

icy cold eyes
aloof, absent from afar,
I’m a fading spectre,
invisible —

our relationship
evaporated,
like wispy mist, at dawn.

we don’t speak
we don’t touch
we don’t smile
cold as barefoot frost
on an icy winter morning,

is it my imagination?

One sudden tuck,
this way, or that way,
snap, crackle, plop!
Our fragile-bones-relationship
disappears like dust in a storm.

Is it a dream,
is there hope?
Are we scattered,
blown apart?

Reality check time,
