Photo Shadows

A photo transports me back in time.

time stands photo-still,
my mind disappeared
into yesteryear’s shadows.

Camels of dust,
a slow caravan trail,
sailing on the hazy horizon.

Wildflowers waving
in a dry cloying breeze.
Swaying to nature’s hymn.

Rusty old windmill creaking.
Sunflowers hanging head-down,
birds dancing in the summer sun.
We having fun, splashing in the farm dam.

Nostalgia hanging thickly,
a scent, a taste, a memory.

time stands photo-still,
my mind leapfrogged
into yesteryear’s shadows.

Poem inspired by A Taste for Life’s Monthly Theme — Memories.
