Silence

Is silence golden? It is, isn’t it?

Silence …
bouncing off the wall silence
hanging cloyingly in the air.
Silence is golden. Is it?

It’s choking me.
The deep darkness is silent.
Silent. Just like you,
just like me.

Long sizzling silence
in the night.
Overbearing, depressing.
Silent, like me.

A creak, a sound,
the silence plot thickens.
— Stillness —
In the darkness of night. In you. In me.

Silence isn’t golden,
It is choking me.
A long tick-tock stretch, till morning’s golden rays arrive.
I am lost in silence, in being silent.

Blue shimmering moonlight
a starless sky, stillness.
I am lost. You’re lost.
We’re two pawns on a checkerboard.

Silence… it is choking me.

This poem was inspired by A Taste for Life’s Monday prompts. Visual prompt #8.
