Sago Pudding
The way mom made it — no change to the recipe over the years.

Sago pudding is a sweet pudding mom used to serve for dessert. She made it by combining sago pearls with milk, sugar, and an apricot jam topping.
I like to alter a recipe by adding a bit of this and a bit of that to enhance the recipe to my taste. However, I made this recipe many times over the years for myself and my friends. It did not require a change over the years at all — it’s perfection in my humble opinion.
Ingredients:
500 ml milk
50 ml cream
100 grams of sago pearls
5 ml Vanilla essence
2 eggs separated
2 tablespoons butter
3 tablespoons apricot jam
4 tablespoons sugar
a dash of salt
Process:
- Cover the sago pearls with water and soak for 15 minutes.
- Bring milk, cream, sugar, salt, and butter to boiling point.
- Drain the soaking sago and add to the cooking milk mixture.
- Reduce heat to low and cook till sago pearls are translucent.
