The Journey

A new day, a new dawn.

A single ship,
approaches from the horizon.
An evening dusky light silhouette in
a comfy amber-pinkish orange duvet.

Its sail drawn,
its upside-down tree mast
framed in hazy hue’ey color bursts.
A wake of snail-slow silver strand trails rippled around the docking bay.

The old ship
fades into a dusking
sun-kissed pink-purple sky.
Darkness enfolds the harbor
silver light reflecting from twinkling stars.

Midnight explosions filled the sky.
Snap, crackle, pop fiery fireworks
exploded in surreal rainbow colors.

Celebrations,
champagne cheers
— echoing in the air
the voyage of the old ship forever fades away.

a yearlong journey
ended at midnight
never to return.
An old year fades away
A new day, a new dawn
a new year set sail toward the blinking horizon — destiny unsure.
