The Woman I Saw
Part 2: In ‘An Unexpected Visitor’ Short Story Series.
Mia stops at the bar’s door. She aggressively swings around staring at Dave. Her red hair a glowing magma wave cascading past her shoulders to her waist. Her luminous eyes are alive with a green emerald fire burning deep into Dave’s soul. He has never seen her so angry and yet beautiful before.
“Ghosts, do not exist, Dave,” Mia screams. “You are a fool jumping at shadows!” Her usual melodious voice was now a high-pitched frustrated howl. She marches out of Roxy’s Lounge Bar slamming the door behind her.
Her words swirl around the bar like a swarm of angry wasps. Sighing, Dave lowers his tired body into the soft warmness of the comfy creaking leather couch. His golden curly hair a messy mane framing his pale face. He struggles to understand Mia’s reaction to his ghost story’s distress and a sleepless night.
“Wonder what’s up with her? She is usually very understanding,” he ponders aloud, wiping his sweaty moist palms on his bleached denim trousers. Turning to his best friend John from primary school he enquires, “John, do you believe my story? I promise you it’s not a made-up fantasy to gain sympathy.”
