A Pleasant Surprise
A fictional story about life’s unexpected gifts based on a real event.
“Dad, are you busy?” John asked doing a nervous pirouette.
“No. What’s up, lad?”
“Dad, Lisa, and I are expecting.”
“Expecting a lottery win?” I inquired wickedly.
“Dad, I’m seriously stressed. No jokes, please!” His hands fluttering like a hummingbird.
“Tell me, son.”
“We’re expecting a baby. We’re planning to get married next week?”
“I’m too young to be a granddad yet lad.”
“Dad!”
“Sorry, couldn’t resist, son. She’s a good lass. You two are a perfect match. I’m a very happy chappy at the news.”
“Thanks, dad. You’ll be a great granddad. You can teach him to play cricket.”
